With your administrative assistance, the DARE program will provide:

• a specially trained, uniformed police officer once a week for sixteen weeks
• an officer who will instruct the DARE curriculum to grades 5 and/or 6 (lessons require 45 minutes to one hour of class time)
• visitation lessons to all other classes in the school as requested by teachers
• opportunities for the officer to interact with the students during lunch time, playground activities and other appropriate times during the day
• a faculty awareness session
• a parent education evening

• regard the officer as an educator. No law enforcement activities should be expected of the officer except in emergencies
• if possible, provide the officer with an area to work in and post scheduling notices
• allow the officer time to address teachers at faculty meetings and parents at PTA meetings
