With your administrative assistance, the DARE program will provide:
- a specially trained, uniformed police officer once a week for sixteen weeks
- an officer who will instruct the DARE curriculum to grades 5 and/or 6 (lessons require 45 minutes to one hour of class time)
- visitation lessons to all other classes in the school as requested by teachers
- opportunities for the officer to interact with the students during lunch time, playground activities and other appropriate times during the day
- a faculty awareness session
- a parent education evening
It would be appreciated if you could:
- regard the officer as an educator. No law enforcement activities should be expected of the officer except in emergencies
- if possible, provide the officer with an area to work in and post scheduling notices
- allow the officer time to address teachers at faculty meetings and parents at PTA meetings
Please direct any inquiries to the Haverford Township Police Department Special Operation unit's DARE instructors.
