School Based Initiatives
The Haverford Township Police Department in cooperation with The School District of Haverford, are striving to create a Safe, Drug and Violence free school atmosphere. We are doing this through supporting a School Based Initiative philosophy throughout the entire School District. We currently have School Resource Officers assigned to both the High School and the Middle School on a full time basis.
School Violence concerns are not new to our community. Haverford Township has, as united community, been addressing these issues for over ten years. We have done this by implementing programs such as Officer Friendly, Personal Safety, D.A.R.E. in both elementary and Middle School, M.A.S.T.E.R.S.S. Programs and classroom visitations.
One of our biggest assets from our long standing history of community involvement is the ability to open lines of communication with the students, parents and school administration.
As A result of nationwide media attention, given to the recent incidents of school related acts of violence. The Haverford Township Police Department has expanded its programs to include classroom seminars to discuss many of the Student's Parent's and School Administration's concerns.
